There are some very good links that show that acupuncture is a placebo effect is really very simple and most claims are rubbish:

The method, which state that works (mysterious energy in the body, especially acupuncture points, etc.) is completely artificial and have no basis in reality:

There is absolutely no disadvantages. You just have to know what is good and what is not good. Acupuncture is not good for everything.
Moreover, it is necessary to find a good acupuncturist. This will be his biggest test. It takes at least 10 years to learn it properly. 25 for the master's level. Secondly, I'm just like the good old traditional Chinese acupuncture. But even with that deviations from the "traditional" and the use of needle electrodes which are trembling a little. That's good.
Acupuncture is used to treat asthma amazing. What I know for sure.
If you live in a big city, you at your local China Town and ask for an ancient acupuncture and many of you have done forever and a day. It sounds crazy, but it is a good suggestion ... Or simply browse the yellow pages ...

Since you are in a debate setting and are not really bad, I feel free to discuss the review of acupuncture, which I heard. (I do not know the practice, but I am a patient of acupuncture by my doctor if I need it.)
Firstly, they do not say it works. Critics say it is not proved by the method of double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study. It is difficult to put the form in which to demonstrate and in countries where it is widespread, this type of test as immoral.
It is generally against it because it is based on a system of thought which is alien to the West. Greek Logic says: "A is not non-A" Chinese logic says: "A is not a" concept of yin and yang balance is not part of western medicine, except in the concept of homeostasis. But do not mention, because it can help your opponent.
And the basic idea behind acupuncture is an ideology based on the five elements, five major organ systems and the presence of energy pathways in the body are interconnected. The disease is observed when these pathwountry and relationships between the institutions are in poor condition. Furthermore, conditions for the dry, cold and heat and humidity, emptiness and even more are regarded as important. And the feeling may be that a person of warmth and heat are called acupuncture as positive, while the West may have the same feeling as a disgrace to speak, and I think it's a symptom.
Fears for the safety of the needle is often asked. Today, in California, I have never seen anyone re-use of acupuncture needles. You can do this, however, levy a disadvantage, since it is possible.
The effectiveness of acupuncture in China against the West can be obtained, the method and timing. Typically occurs in acupuncture in California once or twice a week, at any time of day. In China, the clinics are open in the early morning hours when most people receive treatment and patients receiving daily treatment for up to ten days. Sometimes they have two or three cycles of treatment.
So is the criticism that it requires frequent treatments that interrupt the work planPatients will be charged an extra treat, as they so often and so need for a very long time. And the doctor would only work on people in the early morning hours to a loss of revenue in the afternoon.
Another criticism is that it is rarely covered by insurance. The patient has a high price to pay for it and therefore no economic sense.
(If we covered all the medical care provided by the government, it is not possible to change. I just hope we can still choose to receive treatment, if desired.)

I show a checklist with the actual clinical trials, acupuncture has to do, at least for certain things, by the National Institutes of Health.
Some negative aspects: the search for a professional who is properly registered (see other answers), not someone who is buying 6 Saturday and needles. Also do not share needles with other people.
